Volunteer
I've paused our cleanups for the foreseeable future. We've done an enormous amount of work and demonstrated that it's entirely possible to keep Grizzly Peak clean. But volunteers are not a long-term solution, and if we keep doing the government's job for free nothing will ever change.
So. The next step for the Pandas is political. We're shifting our focus from cleanups to pressuring UC Berkeley, Oakland, and the other jurisdictions to adopt the common-sense strategies discussed on our Views page. We live in the richest part of the richest country on Earth - our common areas should look like Denmark, not a dump.
If you'd like to help out, please take a minute to contact the public servants listed below. Keep your message friendly, positive, and to the point, feel free to use our pics, and keep me in the loop at [email protected].
- The UC Regents and UC Berkeley's Zero Waste Program.
- Oakland Public Works and OAK311.
- Janani Ramachandran, Oakland District 4.
- The East Bay Regional Park District.
- Susan Wengraf, Berkeley's Vice Mayor.
- Keith Carson, Alameda County District 5.
- Buffy Wicks, State Assembly District 14.
- Nancy Skinner, State Senate District 9.
If enough of us demand change, we can - and will - reclaim Grizzly Peak as a clean and welcoming space for everyone to enjoy!
