Filter Your Runoff!
Point Isabel is a gorgeous tidal marsh in Richmond. It has a kick-ass dog park, endless trails for burning off meh, and all manner of salty birds and beasts. And it was created by pandas just like us - average people who didn't wait for permission before stepping up for the common good. Without their heartfelt vision and courage, the East Bay's shorelines would still be a toxic dump.
Unfortunately, Point Isabel is now covered in tons of trash washed up out of the Bay. We've just started pawing at this site, but we suspect most of the garbage is local street litter washed out to sea by stormwater runoff. We plan to work with the East Bay Regional Park District, the City of Richmond, and others to determine the source of the trash and how to catch it before it reaches the Bay.
If you'd like to help protect our local swamp monsters from the literal swamp monster of human trash, reach out to the elected reps and agencies listed below. Keep your message short and friendly, tell a story, and don't forget that these folks work for us!
- The East Bay Regional Park District (much of Point Isabel is owned and operated by the EBRPD);
- The City of Richmond, including its sewer maintenance department;
- Buffy Wicks (State Assembly District 14), Jesse Arreguin (State Senate District 7), and Gavin Newsom, Governor.
